How Much Does a Contractor License Bond Cost in Connecticut?
A Connecticut Contractor License Bond costs as little as $100. The cost you pay to get bonded is typically 1% - 10% of the total bond amount needed. For example, a $10,000 license bond costs $100 - $1,000.
The percentage that you pay to get bonded (bond premium) is determined by:
- Total Bond Amount Needed (Penal Sum) – Connecticut Contractor Bonds are needed to get specific municipal or city-level contractor licenses in CT. These licenses have bond requirements that range from $1,000 - $100,000. The state of Connecticut also requires home improvement contractors to carry a $15,000 Contractor License Bond.
- Credit Score – This is the main factor determining the percentage of your bond that you must pay. All bond applications go through a soft credit check (which will not impact your credit score). In some cases, industry experience, past bonding history, and business financials may also be considered.
