The Idaho Department of Lands adopted revised regulations that increase the maximum amount of the performance bond required to secure reclamation for surface mining sites from $2,500 per acre of affected land to $15,000 per acre of affected land to implement a change in the law from 2016.
The revised regulations also eliminate outdated provisions concerning the bond amount that allowed the bond to be for less than the actual costs of reclamation.
