Mortgage Brokers in the state of Vermont are regulated by the Vermont Department Banking, Insurance, Securities & Health Care Administration. The licensee may only operate under the name that is on the license. The department will issue additional licenses for additional companies or branches. It is imperative that business is only conducted from the physical location listed on the license.

The Surety Bond requirement for Mortgage Brokers is $25,000 with no net worth requirement. If you wish to be a Mortgage Lender you must have a $50,000 Surety Bond and a $25,000 net worth is required. There are no specific educational requirements for either broker or lender license but you must be able to demonstrate a strong background in loan financing.
