License Overview

Nebraska Mortgage Brokers are regulated by the Nebraska Department of Banking and Financing. Nebraska puts all of their mortgage professionals under one term which is Mortgage Banker. This includes Mortgage Brokers, Mortgage Bankers, Mortgage Lenders, and Mortgage Loan Originators.

Nebraska joined the national Mortgage Licensing System on January 1st, 2008 and is no longer accepting paper applications. They have a large Surety Bond requirement of $100,000 and the commissioner may ask for an even larger bond amount at their discretion. These bonds are fairly simple to get if the applicant can show decent credit and strong personal assets. Annual premiums are based on the credit of the company owner or owners.
