The American Trucking Association recently released the new edition of American Trucking Trends, which reaffirms trucking as the most important freight transportation mode in the U.S. 69.1% of all freight in the U.S. was moved by trucks in 2013, which is an increase from 68.5% in 2012.
Other findings in the report include that from all freight revenue, trucking took 81.2% and that most trade with NAFTA countries was moved by trucking. In 2013, more than 7 million people worked in the industry. Additionally, the report states that trucking has gotten cleaner. The industry is also paying 43% of all fees collected by the Highway Trust Fund.
